The Birth Story of London Green | Jacksonville Birth Photographer

What an incredible honor to be invited into Jackie’s birth space for a second time as they welcomed their newest little girl, to serve as not only their photographer, but also as their doula this time around. While her last birth experience was beautiful and fast, she felt like she needed more tools to manage the intensity of labor and birth. We discussed several ways for her to relieve tension, which in return helps to reduce the pain. Her husband, Salim, was great with providing hip squeezes and encouragement, and her mother was right by her side for hugs and back rubs. The whole family, including her little boys, took turns reading scripture verses to her that she had picked out. These helped her to stay focused and gave her strength as she powered through each surge. She breathed calmly and evenly with gentle reminders from us and dug deep inside to embrace the beautiful work her body was doing.

Once she entered the birth tub, she was very close to meeting her little girl. The surges were strong and she was inwardly focused, handling it all so well. Everyone gathered around to comfort her. Midwife Tara, Student Midwife Ádelle, and Birth Assistant Jamie provided calm, reassuring support. With such strength and grace through those final pushes, she birthed her baby girl into this world. Jackie and Salim were visibly filled with immeasurable love for little London and all of us were overjoyed!
