Birth Story : Evelyn | Jacksonville Birth Photographer

When Lauren told me that her last baby was born in the car in the parking lot of the hospital, I knew that I needed to be readily available at a moment’s notice! I got a text around 5 p.m. that there were some signs of labor starting. Around 8 p.m., I checked in and found out they were thinking about going to the hospital to see how she was progressing. An hour and half later, her water broke and they were on their way to the hospital. With my gear already packed in the car, I flew out of my house to meet them there! Greeted by Lauren, her husband Noah, Lauren’s parents and her aunt in the hallway of the hospital, they quickly got us all back into a labor and delivery suite at St. Vincent’s Southside in Jacksonville.

Lauren labored intensely, using the bar attached to the bed to do some squats to help her baby girl move down. After working through some contractions for a short while, she went to the bathroom and came out saying “it’s time!” We all moved into position quite quickly and got ready for the birth. With Midwife Carol of Full Circle Women’s Care guiding Lauren, and her husband, Noah, supporting her physically and emotionally, she brought her sweet girl into this world with just a handful of pushes. She had a beautiful strength about her. It was amazing!

The emotional atmosphere was a mixture of incredible joy and sweet relief for these precious parents of now three little ones. As I witnessed all these things, I noticed how Lauren and Noah were instantaneously and deeply in love with their baby girl. They couldn’t stop looking at her and they couldn’t stop smiling.
